In her early twenties, Sunny War quit her job in a mall to pursue music full time. She produced her first EP "Worthless" and sold it herself, one CD at a time, on the Venice Boardwalk. The spirit of determination and hope is carried into the folk-punk sound Sunny War has made her own. With virtuosic guitar playing accompanied by deeply honest lyrics, Sunny’s music reflects 21st century concerns that resonate with listeners. In less than a decade, Sunny War has release four EPs and five studio LP albums, each garnering increasing attention and accolades form critics.

Jonathan Bernstein of Rolling Stone calls Sunny's music a "powerful statement" and Pitchfork's Stephen Erlewine says her sound is "emotionally resonant and curiously hopeful."
