The Nutcracker is a cherished holiday tradition for all of Vashon, a ballet that tells a story brimming with holiday magic. It’s Christmas Eve, and young Clara is gifted a Nutcracker from her godfather, the mysterious Drosselmeyer. That night as she slumbers, she enters a fantastic dream where her Nutcracker comes to life to battle an army of rats and their Queen. With Clara’s help, the Nutcracker defeats the Rat Queen. He whisks Clara off on a whimsical journey through a snowy forest to the Land of Sweets, where the Sugar Plum Fairy and her enchanting court dance to celebrate the young lady who saved their Prince. This production features The Blue Heron Dance Company, guest performers, and the ballet students of Vashon Center for Dance.
