GRAMMY®-Nominated singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier stands firmly in the lineage of great songwriters stretching back to Stephen Foster, carrying forward a tradition that spans generations. Yet her music reaches beyond the usual boundaries of folk or pop, channeling the essence of icons like Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, and Robert Johnson. But, where her predecessors often veil meaning in mystery, Gauthier strips away the layers, offering unflinching honesty and vulnerability. Her songs are deeply personal, shaped by her experiences as an adoptee, a runaway, and her struggles with addiction. This raw authenticity defines her songwriting, making her stories resonate with emotional truth. Over the years, she has collaborated with an impressive roster of artists, including Leonard Cohen, Indigo Girls, Tim McGraw, Jimmy Buffett, Bill Chambers, Amy Helm, and Bettye LaVette.
